Dutch probation services to issue alcohol monitoring tags

The Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security has announced that people charged with alcohol-related offenses will be required to wear ankle tags that monitor their alcohol consumption. The tags analyse a person’s sweat and record whether that person has consumed alcohol. The information is then collected by a central service and used to monitor probation orders. Previously, people subject to alcohol-related probation orders were required to complete twice-weekly urine tests.
